Care for God’s Creation at St. Joseph University Parish

Care for the earth is not just an Earth Day slogan, it is a requirement of our faith. We must provide sustainable development that protects the poor and laborers. We must promote policies that provide for the just distribution of natural resources now and care for creation to sustain it in perpetuity.

Ecology and Environment Committee.
The purpose of this committee is to educate and advocate for the earth and all living beings. This committee strives to build a sustainable community knowing “We are all One” in accordance with the Encyclical of Pope Francis.

Porter Farms Community Supported Agriculture
CSA stands for “community-supported agriculture”. The idea behind it is simple: individuals share the costs, risks and bounty of growing food in an environmentally friendly fashion. Members of the parish join the family owned organic Porter Farm CSA by paying the annual fee. In return, the farm provides, to the best of its ability, 22 weeks of fresh, certified organic produce throughout the growing season. Participants rotate pick-ups at the farm.
