Being a Good Neighbor Now: A Community Rooted in Compassion
On Saturday, April 18, St. Joseph University Parish was honored to welcome members of the community for Being a Good Neighbor Now, presented by the Compassion Not Cruelty Coalition and hosted by our Social Justice Committee.
Together, parishioners, community members, advocates, and guests gathered in prayerful solidarity to learn more about the challenges and constant threats refugees and immigrants continue to face in Buffalo and throughout Western New York. Through powerful stories, thoughtful discussion, and shared reflection, the event reminded us of our call as Christians to respond with compassion, dignity, and love.
As a member of the Compassion Not Cruelty Coalition, St. Joseph University Parish is grateful to stand alongside an ecumenical community committed to supporting our immigrant neighbors and living out the teachings and example of Jesus in tangible ways.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, shared their experiences, volunteered their time, and helped make this gathering meaningful and impactful. Your presence reflected the spirit of hospitality, justice, and compassion that continues to guide our parish community.
Thank you as well to the organizers, speakers, and coalition partners who helped educate and inspire us to continue this important work together.
May we continue striving to be good neighbors — not only in words, but in action.
