The Catholic Campus Ministry at UB began in 1936 through the Newman Center on the South Campus as part of a national Catholic movement on secular college campuses called Newman Clubs. When undergraduate studies moved to the North Campus, the Catholic Campus Ministry transitioned to accommodate students on both campuses. The Newman Center has moved to the North Campus, and St. Joseph University Parish continues to provide parish-based, nationally recognized/credited campus ministry for students on the South Campus.
Catholic Campus Ministry serves the University at Buffalo today as a combination of the Newman Center on UB’s North Campus and St. Joseph University Parish on UB’s South Campus, collectively known as UB Catholic. UB Catholic is a place to experience community, explore spirituality, and discover ways to serve others through a faith that does justice. We offer dynamic and reverent worship, compassionate pastoral care, and opportunities for transformative volunteer service, spiritual retreats, theological discussions, social justice advocacy, free meals, and more. All are welcome!
We are here for graduate, undergraduate, transfer, international, local, and long-distance students. We hope you will join us!
