September Is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, an important opportunity to remind one another that mental health matters, conversations can make a difference, and no one should feel they have to struggle alone.
The Erie County Anti-Stigma Coalition is helping our community continue these important conversations by sharing information, resources, and personal stories centered on hope, support, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.
Sometimes simply noticing when someone is struggling, reaching out, listening without judgment, and reminding them that they matter can have a meaningful impact.
We encourage our St. Joseph University Parish and School community to take a few moments to read the Erie County Anti-Stigma Coalition’s September 2026 Newsletter: “Suicide Prevention and Finding Hope in the Darkness.”
Read the full September newsletter and explore available resources here.
If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available 24 hours a day.
